Dyeing Leather
Painting your shoes can be great fun and very useful at the same time. A brown pair of shoes you never wear anymore can be painted black, so they will go perfectly with a nice suit. Whether you paint a pair of leather sneakers in a different colour or you want to bring back colour to your faded brown shoes, anything is possible. Maybe you even want to try and patinate your shoes in just the right colour. No matter what, it will feel like creating a new pair of shoes!
1. Start with cleaning the shoes and removing old layers of shoe cream and other dirt.
The perfect product to use for this job is Saphir Renomat.
2. After you are done, apply Saphir Teinture Francaise shoe dye in small amounts to test how much the leather will absorb.
3. Let dry at least 60 minutes after applying. It generally takes several layers to give shoe its new, rich and beautifully deep colour.
Don’t forget to wear a pair of gloves to protect your hands, the dye won’t come of easily.
3. After the dye has dried, gently brush your shoes and apply Saphir Pommadier to nourish and protect the leather.
