Shaving soap is commonly used by wet shavers and shaving enthousiasts as an indispensible part of their shaving routine. In contrast to shaving cream which is more user friendly, a shaving soap can only be applied using a shaving brush. The most basic tip we can give you with shaving soap is that you need to use only a fragment of the amount that you would normally use with a shaving foam or gel. A lot of people use far too much soap and combine it with too little water which results in a dry lather.

Apply by brush
Start with moistening your face with warm water and soaking your shaving brush in hot water. Take the brush out of the water and shake it gently to remove any excess water. Afterwards give a gentle squeeze and start loading your brush with lather. If you squeezed to hard into the brush you won't have enough water build up in your brush to create a nice smooth lather. In other words it will be too dry to provide a comfortable shave. To correct this, simply drip some water onto the top of your brush and continue. When you feel that you have enough lather build up into your brush (it usually takes about 20/30 seconds) apply the lather to the face by using circular motions. Take your time to do this correctly and be sure to check if lather is not to dry. You can figure this out by pressing your brush against the applied lather. If the lather is sticky it's too dry. You can correct this again by dripping some water onto your brush. Keep applying the lather until the the area that you want to shave is covered with a nice smooth even lather. Afterwards enjoy your shave.
